Lakeside Surf is a complete surf facility located next to Slidewaters Waterpark. Lakeside Surf offers; food & beverage, a retail surf shop, sand volleyball, a massive LED video screen, lockers, restroom/changing rooms, private VIP spaces, a surfer hot tub and a 16-meter citywave. 


Lakeside Surf has a maximum operational season of April through October, with specialized hours during spring and fall. When Slidewaters is open, Lakeside Surf will be an extension of the waterpark for paying waterpark guests. Guests only wanting to visit Lakeside Surf do not need to pay admission.   • What is the difference between Lakeside Surf, Slidewaters and citywave USA?

    Slidewaters is a family friendly waterpark. Lakeside Surf is a surf facility adjacent to Slidewaters. Lakeside Surf will have a longer operational season than Slidewaters as well as longer operational days during the summer. citywave is the wave technology at Lakeside Surf.

  • What is river surfing?

    River surfing is a unique discipline for the sport of surfing. Think about swimming in the Olympics. Athletes may specialize in backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle or  butterfly. Or they may compete in multiple disciplines. 

    Progressive surfing (ocean), stationary surfing (river), wake surfing are all different types of surfing. 

    citywave is a deepwater stationary wave that allows for full size fins, regular short boards and powerful turns and impressive aerials. The surfer rides the energy of the wave and surfs across the wave as the water passes them by. This style of surfing has the nickname endless surf because the wave never ends. 

  • Do I need to know how to surf?

    River surfing is an athletic activity that takes a certain level of physical fitness and awareness. You can read the complete criteria here. 

    You do not need to have any prior surfing experience to enjoy surfing at Lakeside Surf. 

  • Why does it cost extra to surf if we already paid to get into Slidewaters?

    Due to the requirements to get guests surfing, we set up a controlled surf environment, rather than a free-for-all line. Defined surf sessions will give guests the best chance to experience the wave, but they also limit the number of surfers we can surf each day. To control the demand against our supply, we set prices for the experience of a 45-minute session. We are offering free sessions(on a first-come first-serve basis to first time visitors) for Slidewaters guests between 10:45am and 12:15 each day Slidewaters is open. 

  • Will my Slidewaters season pass get me free surfing?

    Once Slidewaters guests have entered the park, regardless of method of entry (season pass, day pass, stocking stuffer, free pass), they will all follow the same access rules for Lakeside Surf & citywave USA. Therefore, Season Pass holders can enjoy a free session or pay for a longer session. Free session priority will be given to first time visitors to Lakeside Surf. Season Pass holders may be limited on the number of free sessions they can enjoy each season. 

  • If I just want to watch a surfer, do I have to pay?

    Guests wishing to only enjoy Lakeside Surf to eat, shop or watch surfing do not need to pay admission to Slidewaters. Admission to Slidewaters is required for guest wishing to utlize the 10:45 to 12:15 free surfing option when Slidewaters is open. Priority for the limited free surfing sessions will be given to first time surfers at Lakeside Surf and then on a first come, first serve basis. Regular visitors of Slidewaters may reach a maximum number of sessions per season.
